It was just last week that Trump began to take some heat for not visiting the U.S. troops he had deployed to the southern border as an election-eve publicity stunt. This was after refusing to visit Arlington National Cemetery for the traditional wreath-laying, this last Veteran's day, immediately after Trump ditched a memorial for U.S. troops killed in France because a light rain had made things too inconvenient. And Trump has never, not once, visited American soldiers stationed in this nation's various combat efforts.
People are noticing that Donald Trump doesn't seem to give a flying damn about the troops, in other words, and even Trump has been noticing that newly harsh-toned criticism—presumably, because he watched someone say it on teevee. So now the White House is very vigorously leaking, to the Washington Post, that by gosh he'll be visiting a combat zone anytime now, don't you worry. Several "current and former advisers" are saying it, so you know it must be true.
Current advisers said Trump is not expected to visit a war zone during the Thanksgiving break, which he will spend at his Mar-a-Lago golf resort in Florida.
Yeah, no kidding.
Here is a news flash. It is extremely unlikely that Donald Trump is really going to agree to visit a combat zone, no matter what he or his advisers might promise. By all means, his croaking White House chorus wants to put that impression out there, but Trump's White House chorus croaks about a great many things that do not come to pass, because they are huuuuuuge liars. By all means, Trump was willing to pipe up with the idea to Fox News, during an interview last week, but there is no reason to presume that he was being any more truthful in that statement than he was in his ridiculous bleatings before or after it.
What the Washington Post has really discovered is that Trump and his advisers have realized that Trump looks like dirt for his recent actions and they need to throw up some cover; therefore, multiple staff members are dispatched to anonymously assure the the public that Donald will probably, maybe, do something to respect U.S. troops eventually, just you wait.
But nobody should believe it unless it actually happens, which it probably won't, because even his own senior staffers know the man is a self-absorbed, paranoid, narcissistic coward.
“He’s never been interested in going,” the official said of Trump visiting troops in a combat zone, citing conversations with the president. “He’s afraid of those situations. He’s afraid people want to kill him.”
Buddy, Donald Trump is afraid of being in the same room as people when he fires them. You'll have to drug him to the gills to get him on a plane to Afghanistan.
