My frig started to have a hard time keeping food cold about 3 days ago, 50 degrees was the best it could do. The only reason I noticed was that the beer seemed warm.
A lot of the old style refrigerators have a cooling coil in the back that can collect dust and hurt the cooling processes, they need to be cleaned about once a year. My frig is 4 years old and there is no coil on the back, there must be one somewhere, but I have no guess as to where.
I called a maintenance guy today to have the frig checked out. I told him the problem and he said is there ice on the back wall of the freezer, I said yes there is.
I was told that that can block air flow to the frig part of the unit and block cooling. He said to unplug the frig for 24 hours, hook it back in and if I still have a problem give him a call. 24 hours seems like a long time to me, but hey what the hell.
I am 90% certain that this guy saved me a service call, if not I Know who I will be calling.
