Trump may be Evil, the policies of the GOP are Worse
The Republican Party is openly attacking our planet, our democracy, and even our belief in reality. We need a strategy of more than focusing on Trump. The policies of the GOP are as insidious as the corruption of the Trump Crime Family. We must gain super majority control to save our planet, our country, and our prosperity’s future. We expose the the rot of all our money politics, until the good ole boys club, the majority of the Republican Party is unelectable.
Zeal without knowledge is a runaway horse
Humanity is approaching an existential crisis. Our nation, the leading economy of the world, has a man in the presidency who is corrupt, narcissistic, and devoid of intellectual curiosity. And if evil is defined as being incapable of doing good, then he is also evil. Donald J. Trump’s despicableness makes a rather compelling motivation for pursuing his impeachment with all zeal. We must not pursue Trump alone. In spite of the fact he is a buffoon and deserving of all shade thrown at him. We need a strategy based on knowledge. If we let our zeal runaway with us, it will allow a future Republican Party to survive this looming disaster.
We need a strategy of never impeach — never demand resignation. A concerted effort to reveal truth should be our focus. We should not stop until the public hearings have thoroughly revealed authentic crimes to the nation. It will drive Trump numbers and GOP numbers to total wipeout levels. (#BlueTsunami2020) No need to gimmick it up, simply use the hearings to find the real corruption in the Trump administration, reveal the enabling corruption of Congress, and lay out the high crimes and misdemeanors of Trump. Build the undeniable case in public until the ardent Trump base hovers below 30% approval. Impeachment is a political exercise; it requires political momentum. Pursuing truth without an impeachment or a resignation will end any chance for Republican power in 2020, no Pence as President, no Republican Senate in 2020.
Our zeal would focus our outrage on Trump. He makes himself such a tempting target. The real threat to America is the Republican Party itself. Nixon was an easy enemy for the resistance of the Vietnam era. Nixon and his cronies were a power-hungry bunch. Still within the Republican Party of the 1960’s and 1970’s were many people who supported environmental laws, the equal rights amendment, and ending of legal discrimination based on race. The GOP had many people who believed in science-based decision making. Republicans supported public education and public institutions. The Republican Party today has self-segregated itself into a White Nationalist Party of wealthy elites, under informed voters, and radicalized Christians who have lost their Jesus. New tools of our digital age have effectively been used to resurrect and energize America’s perennial demons. The base of this new GOP lives in an alternate reality. It is a political psychosis created by outrage. The true Trumpers are lustful for some violent vindication. Immune to fact and eager to believe, they will scream for truth while wallowing in a sea of lies and immorality. This majority of the immoral make up the Republican Party. I can think of no policy agenda that the Trump administration or the GOP in Congress have proposed that would be good for America or the world.
Our zeal must focus on the defeat of the policies of the GOP. Trump administration policies are a carnival of horrors. Fear and hysteria allow them to hasten the death of our planet while the base dances in riotous support. The GOP has been equally corrupt in taking dark money, pursuing agendas to direct profits to a few and allowing pollution to endanger us all. The Republican Party exists to preserve the privilege of wealth and white men. They possess a mythical vision of a past America that underlies every proposal. Soon the party men like Mitch McConnell, Tom Cotton, Steve Scalise will slither to find harbor from the Trump storm. They will join in pointing the finger of blame on Trump. Trump will become their scapegoat as they try to escape blame and preserve power. We must discredit the policies they support. The modern Republican Party is motivated by short-sighted greed and the materialistic drive of a miser. There are no good or rational actors left in the Republican Party. This is not the Watergate era.
We need majorities large enough to pass constitutional amendments to assure fair elections, respect for the rights of all people, and the limit of corporate power. We need to limit the blackmail corporations use to extort local and state governments. We need to rehabilitate our healthcare system and bring health to healthcare. Large Democratic majorities would mean debates between our most progressive and our most moderate. Policy would start with people making decisions to save our planet, get people healthcare, keep our economy on a level playing field, treat everyone with equality before the law, and make all citizens part of our democracy. These seem like American values, but no one left in the Republican Party supports these goals, there’s no money in it. We must keep the focus on GOP policy atrocities, while using Trump and the investigations as the tool to leave the Republican Party neutered and insignificant. Policy in DC has for too long been influenced by a paradigm defined by think tanks. Conservative ideological think tanks funded by the greedy and the eccentric. We have the opportunity to usher in a new era of change based on equality, efficiency, and promoting health both for humans and the planet.
Arguing over how to pursue policy whether universal healthcare or partial healthcare is meaningless until we have power to enact.
We need our priorities in this order.
1) Respect for our Planet
2) Respect for People
3) Respect for American Institutions
4) No toleration of corruption
5) All who dream to be American are American
America is a myth of aspiration. American history is beset with sins and falling short. We must strive to be a more perfect Union.
