So Pass the Buck Chuck lost a vote in the senate today 48-47 with the VP casting the tie-breaking vote. That is pretty much how the media is covering it. Guess what? There is a much bigger story. Chuck failed to keep the democrats united. Sen Jones of Alabama broke with his democratic caucus and voted with the republicans to move the HR forward. Yeah, its procedural, yeah its only one vote but guess what? It keeps the debate alive — it keeps the Dem message (which is needlessly shaky . . . another leadership problem) at issue. So Chuck failed today. Chuck had a member of his caucus think it was okay to go off on his own on a major vote because his future was in his own hands — not the hands of the party. That is a huge leadership problem. Chuck is a joke. He himself felt no obligation to follow Obama’s leadership and now he can not command the loyalty of his caucus. He needs to go. And while that is not about to happen now, we need to be paying attention and take him out when the time comes. We can’t have a party of congress-critters who think they are mommies little superheros. Party discipline and checking of egos are critical to clawing our way back to relevance. Chuck is a huge impediment.
