Another interesting diary, another comment section threadjacked.
So I wade through the first pie fight just to get to the next relevant comment, and lo and behold, another pie fight breaks out!
So I wade through another pie fight, and find the next comment that may have some relevance, and you guessed it…
OK then, I really don’t want to trudge through this time after time, but I do have to respect the fact that some members like the pie fights and the threadjacking, otherwise, why would they do it?
So I have a suggestion for the benevolent gods of DailyKos:
Provide another thread/comment display option!
1- Provide an option to show only each top level comment, along with that comment response statistic.
2- Make that option recursive, so it applies all the way down to the deepest comments.
Then if a reader wishes to drill down into that comment, let reader click to show the next level of response, along with those response stats. And so on, as deep as you wish.
So in order to drill down along a thread, you must click past the top level, then the next level and so on.
Why?
So an interested member (or non member) can skip the pie fights and ignore the threadjackers.
So an interested member can follow other interested members who aren’t threadjacking or pie fighting, but who are constructively commenting on the actual diary contents.
I do believe that small change will also promote better behavior by members, because if no one is FORCED to see each and every comment, why bother to threadjack a diary in the first place?
Does this infringe on anyone’s rights? Nope, and a change like this would make Daily Kos so much more readable.

I am interested in your responses and suggestions.
