In watching the news break about “tender age” internment camps, reporters were referring to “tender age” as a euphemism for baby and toddler detainment centers.
But is “tender age” a euphemism. By definition that should be a term that is less direct — hides a blunt truth that might be uncomfortable.
“Tender age” on the other hand, underlines the discomfort with big bold lines. It is just icky. the words give you a skin crawly feeling.
“Tender” — as in soft, easy to chew...like they are caging these babies for some new Trump venture. they are being chewed up and spit out as trump devours them to force funding for his sicko wall.
“Tender age” sounds more like a euphemism for underage porn — like something that would be next to “Barely Legal” in the masked magazine section.
“Tender” does not euphemistically deflect from the concept that these are babies and toddlers — tender underlines the fact that these children are too young, too soft, too in need of care — to be cast into these cages.
I would have to think that this was some super creepy PR decision to further troll the outrage of non-impaired people who are outraged by the internment of children and the policy of separation with no thought to reunification.
They are trolling with human lives. Parents and children. Will Republican congress members REALLY agree that this is a winning strategy?
Do they understand that our government — under Trump and Miller — are trying to make arriving in the United States as horrific as possible, more horrific than the cartels these people are fleeing from? Do they still think that is the United States they swore to serve?
