There’s a reason so many migrants are willing to risk the Trump administration’s abuses and cruelty: they're fleeing even worse things. Parents don’t pack up their scant resources and carry their kids across countries, braving all of the dangers faced by vulnerable travelers, if there aren’t worse dangers behind them.
“When we talk to kids and families they tell us ‘I will die if I stay in my country and I may die if I make the journey,’” Jennifer Podkul from Kids in Need of Defense told Global News.
“When you’re facing odds like that you’re going to continue taking risks even if it means being taken away from your children because at least your children will be alive.”
And the Trump administration has taken that fear, that desperation, that love of family, and treated it as meaningless other than as a weapon to stoke fear of brown people among white Americans.
Can you give even $1 to get legal help and caring advocates for these families?
