Ohio now has three candidates in the DCCC’s Red to Blue program. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) today added Democrat Betsy Rader who is running against incumbent Republican David Joyce (OH-14) to the list. This district covers the Cleveland eastern suburbs and extends to the Pennsylvania border.
Rader joins Ken Harbaugh, running in OH-07 (Cleveland southwest suburbs) against incumbent Republican Bob Gibbs, and Aftab Pureval, running in OH-01 (Cincinatti northern suburbs) against incumbent Republican Steve Chabot. There are now 56 Democratic challengers in this DCCC program that arms top-tier candidates with organizational and fundraising support, strategic guidance, staff resources, and candidate trainings. Rader is a civil rights lawyer and former director of Geauga County’s advocacy program for abused children.
Because Ohio has been horribly gerrymandered, all 3 of these races are tough ones. But in a blue wave year, it may be possible to win some or all of them.
