The Sierra Club Centennial Group in Cobb County Georgia held a Meet the Candidates forum. The partisan breakdown of the candidates willing and able to participate was interesting. All six panelists on the legislative candidate panel were Democrats, while two of the three Cobb County Board of Commissioners candidate’s panel were Republicans.
One thing the panel makes clear is that Democrats this cycle are willing to challenge Republican incumbents in districts where Democrats haven’t mounted challenges recently, often for decades.
Of course, since this was sponsored by the Sierra Club’s group in Cobb County the focus was on the environment and covered such topics as Georgia’s coal ash problem, public transit, water and air quality, and sustainable energy.
