Republican cowards in Congress ran and hid from the truth again yesterday when they failed to speak out in support of United States Senator and war hero John McCain after Donald Trump refused to even mention McCain’s name in a speech Trump delivered at Fort Drum in New York where the president went to sign the John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019.
That cowardly failure raises the following important questions voters will undoubtedly ask when they step into the voting booth next November:
- Why on earth would Donald Trump, a man who never served anyone but himself and who applied for five deferrals between 1964 and 1968, refuse to honor John McCain, a man who devoted his life to public service as a Congressman and United States Senator and served for 23 years in the United States Navy and was awarded the Silver Star, three Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart, two Legions of Merit, and the Distinguished Flying Cross?
- Is the president of the United States so ashamed of his lack of courage and so embarrassed by his narcissism he cannot even mention the name of a man whose life of public service, honor, and courage so clearly exposes Trump’s lack of public service, honor, and courage?
- Lastly, isn’t it reasonable to assume that each thinking voter will ask whether it is truly in the best interest of the nation to re-elect blatantly cowardly Republicans to the House and Senate on Tuesday, November 6, 2018?
Isn’t it?
