You’re not fooling us, pearl-clutchers.
At first, I found the ‘na-na-na-can’t-hear-you’ behavior of quite a few never-Trump conservatives who support Kavanaugh surprising. They don’t show fealty to Trump — why would they support Kavanaugh so virulently, in the face of multiple accusations of sexual assault and demonstrable instances of perjury?
Simple — they believe, unlike what supposedly what Kavanaugh told Senator Collins, that the new SCOTUS appointment will vote to severely restrict, or outright overturn, Roe vs. Wade. That’s it — nothing more to it. In the face of:
1. At least 3 women accusing Kav of assault
2. Multiple examples of perjury
3. Obvious lack of professionalism
4. A career in biased political activity
5. PLENTY OF OTHER CONSERVATIVE JUSTICES, INCLUDING WOMEN
it makes no REASONABLE sense that so many of these conservatives would continue to openly support Kavanaugh for the nomination, unless he’s going to do exactly what they want him to: solidify an ultra-conservative SCOTUS for a generation, specifically on social and civil law.
Of course, those like Rand Paul and Lindsey Graham are doing it because they’re now in the bag for Trump — not sure if they’re in it now for gain, or to prevent the release of damaging info — and Kavanaugh very publicly has opinions about protecting the President from anything short of impeachment while in office (including investigations that could lead to impeachment.) We expected them, if not the all the names that Trump would have by now.
Why bother not being forthright about your intentions and reasons, conservatives? What do you fear will happen if you’re honest about why you continue to support Kavanaugh? Why not just outright call the accusers ‘liars’ and be done with it?
I think we know why — you’re cowards who won’t tell the truth, either...maybe that’s another reason you support Kavanaugh.
