Chick-fil-A is opening stand alone stores across the country.
The story on the Clemson fast food banquet generated comments like
Chik-fil-a is messing up traffic here in Seminole County, Florida, as well. I refuse to go there and dine at Zaxby’s with their wide variety of appetizing hot sauces!

Yeah, the two that I’ve seen in my area are stand-alones — one in front of a shopping center (it replaced a Coco’s — they tore that building down, and effed up the parking lot traffic for months).
They are still closed on Sunday. They aren't staying in malls though. They are popping up everywhere here in South Carolina and fucking up traffic everywhere they go. We ate there once, 8 or 10 years ago (before all the religious brou-ha-ha) based on the fact that everyone just raved and raved about their food. My husband and I both just look at each other and threw it away after one bite. It was one giant salt like….no flavor, just salt. Haven’t stepped foot in one again and never will.
A google search of Chick fil A and traffic yields stories in Birmingham, Charlotte. Henrietta NY, Rochester, Santa Barbara, and Milwaukee on just the first two pages of search results.
Here in Camp Hill PA one has been proposed and generated an organization to block it. They plan to knock down five houses. A drive through will clog the streets for the main intersection which must be crossed by many children going to the elementary and high schools. The district has no buses.
Over 125 people, mostly from the area most directly impacted showed up at the Town Hall meeting and the Planning Commission meeting in this Harrisburg suburb. Republicans control the council and have for years. “We don’t want our neighborhoods run over by International Corporations.” “I don’t want my backyard to be an exit ramp.
Things are changing however all five precincts voted for Hillary and the Democrat congressional candidate.
An organization popped up, signs were printed and placed in lawns.
People studied zoning maps, county and local ordinances and over 20 people spoke against the project. Four council members were elected in 2017 and the highest vote total was 1228. For a change there was a full Democratic slate and less than a hundred votes decided the race.
This is the street that will feed cars into the residential streets in no way built to handle it.
Federal judges for the next generation will by dominated by Federalist Society, Trump Appointed, and McConnell approved right wingers. Republican senators from small red states will have an advantage.
If positive change is to come it must be built on local issues and local activists. I am hopeful it will. Praise be to progressives running for federal office, but the energy and support must come from the bottom.
Think global, act local.
Added some local maps and links in comments. On second thought I should add that here.
