Two and a half years after Trump’s long con began, Congress has finally stepped up to do their job. We must presume Congress will perform their constitutional duty and pass articles of impeachment against the vile criminal in the whitehouse, also known as Individual 1. WHEN this happens, we- the people, must be prepared to play our role.
We can’t sit back passively and watch Moscow Mitch delay, block, or rig the Senate trial. Although many people are dismissing any chance of a guilty verdict by the GOP controlled Senate, I do not share that pessimism. Justice Roberts has already broken from conservatives recently and I don’t think he’ll want to go down in history as part of a rigged trial to keep a Russian asset in the whitehouse. Thus, there is hope that sanity will prevail.
Trump and his cabal depend on the masses being so scandal exhausted that we sit back passively and accept whatever atrocities Moscow Mitch has in store. There’s plenty of reason for the GOP to think they can get away with it. In the past few years:
- Trump colluded with Russia to steal the white house.
- Trump captured children, split them from their families and put them in cages like animals.
- Stole money from the military and their families to build his wall, a silly campaign promise
- Supported racists, openly, with pride.
- Compromised national security by withholding military assistance to Ukraine and using it as extortion in order to force a conjured investigation against his political rival.
- Paid off his Turkish loansharks by allowing them to commence a Kurdish genocide.
And what did we, the sane Americans, do? Sure, there were complaints, shouts, sporatic demonstrations, and of course, sternly written Daily Kos diaries, but nothing that was remotely capable of moving the needle. I am also guilty of this. This changes now. We need to take a page out of the Puerto Rico playbook when they realized it was time for their governor to go. They took to the streets and stayed there until he left. That is what we need to do. National Strike. Not a Sunday demonstration in a park. National Strike in the streets. Clog the streets. Clog the highways. Stop everything.
I don’t know about you all, but I’m really tired of hearing Trump threaten civil war. His nutjob race-war wannabes threaten terrorism if we impeach him. More of the same… bullying. Hoping to scare us from doing what everyone knows is the right thing to do. They depend on this.
It all ends now. It ends with this. Democracy is not a spectator sport.
A national strike will send a message:
- to Trump: most of the country detests you and wants you in jail
- to the rebel wannabes: we will not cower from you. Bring it on mother fuckers. We’ll empty the concentration camps filled with children and fill them up with your pathetic asses.
- to the world: we are sorry. we are trying to clean up our own mess. You can trust us again. We have righted the ship.
- to our children: we return the future to you. This is our gift of hope
I’m prepared to walk into the streets on the first Monday after the Articles of Impeachment are passed. Are you?
How about you, democratic presidential candidates? Are you ready to lead us? Show it!
