Great diaries here on the golden opportunities for Democrats next year, especially with regard to the presidency and the Senate majority - thank you all! One, of particular note to me, mentioned that things are pretty well set in the presidential race with the three frontrunners way ahead of the pack. Steyer and Bloomberg can spend all they want and their Trump attack ads are very helpful to the cause (or dKos!), thank you! but I don’t see them buying their way into the big league. I do worry about an independent run by either or both pulling more votes from dems than republicans. Amy and Pete are pushing hard and well, and may see some bump from Iowa and New Hampshire, but how much, really? Super Tuesday will be the main event. Hard to believe that is what it takes to get a lot more people engaged, but this is the state of American politics.
One thing I haven’t seen mentioned is the fact that progressives DOMINATE the pols. Sure, everyone has their favorite, and most of us will gladly vote for pretty much ANY democratic Trump opponent. Biden may lead, but if you add together Warren and Sanders’ recent numbers the progressives are crushing him 34-28 (Real Clear Politics). Even with current (granted, early) polls showing Biden does better against Trump! I agree with those that have said here that he may be peaked, and progressives will drive higher turnout, but it won’t do us any good if Warren and Sanders split the progressive vote — they won't make it past the convention!
So what are we progressives to do? Hope that Bernie or Elizabeth throws their support to the other, or makes some other kind of deal? Or are we just too divided within our own house to find a way? I don’t know, but I'm sure some of you have an opinion, so take my poll below and let's see if we can find some consensus - or at least have a little fun!
We have a perfect storm this next year to take advantage of, let’s not waste it! Enough people are fed up with Trump and his minions to turn this mother out. We also need to maximize the presidential electoral votes and coattails to take the Senate.
Wishing you all a peaceful, healthy, safe and happy new year with a NEW PRESIDENT AND SENATE MAJORITY!

just saw the post about Biden picking a republican running mate, unfortunately it doesn’t appear to be possible to add that (...and Biden tanks) to my poll! Wow, Joe, you have GOT to be kidding!
