Yesterday, I was listening to BBC News and they told the story of a British teenager who left London to become an ISIS bride. She was at a Syrian refugee camp with her infant son and wants to go back to England.
Here is the story of Shamima Begum from the BBC:
Ms Begum was a schoolgirl when she left Bethnal Green in 2015, and was found in a Syrian refugee camp last week after reportedly leaving Baghuz - IS's last stronghold.
She gave birth to a son at the weekend and now wants to return home.
She is being stripped of British citizenship and will not be allowed to return home.
This morning I was watching CNN and they told a story of a teenager who went to become an ISIS bride and now wants to bring her infant son back to her home country. Only this time, her home country is the United States.
Here is the story of Hoda Muthana according to CNN:
Muthana, now 24, was a college student when she traveled to Syria over four years ago to join ISIS -- eventually marrying three fighters and calling for the killing of Americans on Twitter. In a series of interviews this week from a sprawling camp in northern Syria with her infant son, she expressed deep remorse.
While Hoda was living in Alabama when she left to join ISIS, there is some confusion about whether she actually is a US citizen.
But here’s my point. Isn’t it an amazing coincidence that two young women with identical stories are trying to get their infant sons into their home countries? While I usually disagree with this administration’s handling of people their consider terrorists, maybe in this case there is some truth to the idea that these women might be plants.
Be kind- this is my first attempt at a post in many years. I usually lurk.
