So… this is what happens when you leave YouTube playing in the background for several hours.
After watching a documentary on odd homes (a particular favorite of mine), I went back to work (10' away) and left YT on its own to choose videos to play. Documentaries are quite good as non-interrupting background noise I have found. They’re usually pretty thin on explosions or loud arguments after all.
Then I started hearing things about gnomes… which was distracting. So I looked over and was completely taken in by this heartwarming story.
It’s an older video from 2015, but the story is truly timeless.
Gnome homes began to suddenly sprout up along a biking trail in a Kansas forest, and nobody knows who’s putting them there. Local children begin to actively search for these little gems, and are surprised at the detail and whimsy each new house displays.
That would be enough in and of itself to merit mentioning… but the story that sprouted from that simple action is so very much more. It involves two families, each undergoing a difficult time, that managed to bring each other a sense of community and comfort we all need when we are at a low point.

Hope this will bring you all some joy too… we sure could use it.
