Portions of the Midwest, including areas in Nebraska, Iowa and Wisconsin have recently been devastated by flooding caused by heavy rain and rapid snow melt. The flooding has destroyed bridges, dams, levees and roads, not to mention private homes and businesses. Recovery from this event will require a major spend on repairing infrastructure. While members of Congress here in Nebraska all supported President Trump’s fake emergency to divert dollars to build a border wall, I have not yet seen one of them call for federal help for flood recovery. Democrats in Congress need to take a stand to make sure the federal government supports this real emergency in the Midwest.
