It’s difficult enough representing your constituents while fighting against a Party that lately shows little or no respect for your positions - or for propriety itself. But Republicans in PA are making it doubly-hard on one newly elected representative from Philadelphia, Rep. Movita Johnson-Harrell (D), for another reason; her choice of religion.
Representative Movita is the first Muslim woman member in the PA Legislature’s history.
Instead of an uneventful swearing in, the representative was greeted during the opening session’s prayer with a fire-and-bristone tongue lashing of the Chamber from freshman Rep. Stephanie Borowicz(R) of Clinton County. It was not an attempt at welcoming or reconciliation by any stretch of the imagination.

Republican House Speaker Mike Turzai, who already lost a legal fight to prevent non-believers from offering invocations, was well aware that Borowicz was an ultra-religious conservative, and this seems like a response to the legal smack-down.
