For all the crazy, awful things Trump does our side has trouble pinning things on the Teflon Don because it’s like drinking from a firehose. After awhile it just seems like a laundry list of wrongdoing where the whole does not equal the sum of the parts.
And when we do talk about things like “Obstruction of Justice” it’s a lawyerly technical term that doesn’t hit people on an emotional level.
But there is a “phrase that pays” our side can repeat dozens of times a day that is applicable in much of what Trump and his minions are doing: “What is he hiding?” Sometimes, when other Republicans are covering up for him, often to no benefit of their own, it should be, “What are they hiding?”
- Trump won’t release his taxes and is suing half the world to keep them secret. What is he hiding?
- Trump keeps holding private conversations with Vladimir Putin with no other Americans present and , in one case, had the translator’s notes destroyed? What is he hiding?
- Trump won’t provide Congress with any of the papers required to do their constitutional oversight duty. What is he hiding?
- Trump says the Mueller report exonerates him but he won’t allow Mueller to testify to Congress. What is he hiding?
- Mitch McConnell and Lindsay Graham, despite clear indication of wrongdoing in the Mueller report, say the investigation is over. What are they hiding?
- Trump repeatedly lied about working on a lucrative deal for Trump Tower Moscow that required Putin’s approval. What is he hiding?
And on and on and on. Let’s help America take all the separate little jigsaw pieces and put them into a clear picture of someone who lies, schemes, sues, delays, avoids, and obstructs to keep the truth about him from coming out, a truth that must be pretty awful for him to go this far to keep it hidden.
“What is he hiding?”
