Quinnipiac poll July 29, 2019
Former Vice President Joseph Biden reverses his slump following the first Democratic presidential debate and now leads the pack with 34 percent of Democrats and independent voters who lean Democratic, according to a Quinnipiac University National Poll released today. Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren has 15 percent, with 12 percent for California Sen. Kamala Harris and 11 percent for Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.
This is a gain of 12% for Biden since the previous poll of Democratic candidates on July 2. That post-debate poll had Biden at 22%, Harris at 20%, Warren with 14% and Sanders with 13%.
Other notes from the poll:
- 54% of those polled said they would never vote for Trump
- “Very liberal” democrats polled 29% Warren, 25% Biden, 15% Sanders, 12% Harris
- Among black Democrats: Biden 53%, Sanders 8%, Harris 7%, Warren 4%
- “Who would be the best leader?”: Biden 36%, Warren 17%, Sanders 12%, Harris 9%
1,306 surveyed, MOE +/- 3.4%, cell phones and land lines.
