With apologies to Julián Castro, who has used the phrase several times now ("On January 21, 2021, we will say adiós to Donald Trump”), that lovely Spanish word is too kind. So are farewell, goodbye, adieu, goodbye, arrivederci, au revoir, aloha, sayonara, and any words that connote good wishes, a desire to meet again, or sadness at the separation.
So, no, no, no, a thousand times, no. No going to God for that monster. And no sorrow upon his departure.
Let us not use Castro’s all-too felicitous phrase.
Noting that the Drumpf Klan hails from Germany, I think the most appropriate phrase is zum Teufel: to the Devil. To the seventh circle of Hell, for all I care. No, I don’t believe in any of those, but they remain a comforting image when it regards Trump (prison is real, and is a nice image, too).
Let’s tell dRumpf, “Du gehst zum Teufel.”
If anybody here wants to create a hashtag like zumTeufelmitTrump, or some version, that would be lovely. Thanks!
