As a Bostonian, I thought of The Cars as a hometown band, even as they achieved super stardom. I was still young (well, 29 years old) when they made their first album with songs like “Just What I Needed,” and “My Best Friend’s Girl.” I type these names, and the tunes start to spin my head.
In 1984, they won MTV’s Video of the Year award for “You Might Think”
Ben Orr the bassist/vocalist (“Who’s Going to Drive You Home”) died in 2000, and now Ric is gone. RIP, guys.
