I’ve been trying to say what he says in this column. I just haven’t been very effective at it.

One thing I’ll add: we can expect no help at all from the MSM. With a few honorable exceptions. The Washington Post doesn’t seem to be trying to skew the nation’s consensus.
But even MSNBC does. We all know that fox nooz has an agenda. But CNN and MSNBC do, too. They are deliberately trying to make the struggle between Liberalism and authoritarianism as close as possible. Their motive? It can almost be nothing but the fact that a close race means people are anxious and will tune in more.
They do it in two ways. One is to inflate republican/conservative support, ignoring the terrible red flags that are waving. (Maybe this lulls those repulsive republicans into a false sense of security? That’s good, yes. But they still shouldn’t be doing it.) Their other tactic is telling us over and over again that what we really want is a moderate, civilized party leadership which will not rock the boat.
Garbage! We want leadership who will map out and strategize the cleanup of this horrible republican mess.
For many years now I’ve been coming across Leonard Pitts columns syndicated in various newspapers from time to time and I’ve always been impressed. So impressed that I started considering subscribing to the Miami Herald merely in order to have full access to this brilliant writer. I haven’t actually done it yet. But I’m becoming more and more convinced that it’s a good idea.
