This seems like a good time to point out something I’ve tried pointing out before. I’m not saying it is likely that the Senate Republicans would vote to convict on articles of impeachment, but I have been pointing out it’s possible. It’s still not likely. However, this is Trump we’re talking about. In anyone’s case, you never know, it depends how bad the crime is. This is Trump we’re talking about.
It always depends on what comes up, and how it’s played. The ball can ALWAYS be fumbled, but generally, it can also always be held onto as well.
Furthermore, from the point of view of cognitive science, the framing is better to assume it is possible the Senate will convict. At the least that emphasizes the reason it’s unlikely. At best it keeps the eye on the fact that Trump’s behavior is that out of control that there is a point, there are many possibilities, at which even the current Senate Republicans would have to turn on Trump. And it only takes a few.
