Disclaimer: Elizabeth Warren is my #1 candidate. I don’t really have a close #2, although Sanders and Klochubar are leading the conversation at the moment.
I’m firmly in the vote blue no matter who camp. I will be voting for the Democratic nominee regardless of who it is.
I understand that campaigns will criticize one another. That is what they do. And their are distinct policy differences between the candidates, particularly between the moderates (Biden, Klochubar, Pete B) and progressives (Warren, Sanders) that making clashing inevitable.
What is not inevitable, however, is the constant character attacks we are seeing. And yes, I’m pinning the blame once again on Bernie Sanders campaign.
I do not like Joe Biden. I don’t want to waste time defending his candidacy. However it is imperative that Democrats and people who claim to care about leftist politics, do not irrevocably damage ANY candidate running against Trump. It is especially important that they do not ECHO the ILLEGITIMATE attacks Trump is using to prop us his campaign AND defend himself against impeachment.
That is why I was very disappointed to see this story about Briejoy’s segment on Katy Tur’s program. www.mediaite.com/…
Zephyr Teachout, a Bernie surrogate, wrote an op-ed in which she claimed Joe Biden was corrupt. www.theguardian.com/...
David Sirota promoted it to his followers.
Briejoy refused to disavow the language when confronted with it on National TV.
So is Joe Biden corrupt? Teachout gives 3 examples of Uncle Joe taking contributions from big money donors and than doing their bidding. If this is the definition of corruption, than Biden is guilty. You know who else is guilty? Sanders.
Sanders in 2017, was one of the NRA’s 25 most contributed to politicians. www.marketwatch.com/...
Sanders has also has an abysmal gun record in a country racked by gun violence. Indeed, Sanders has a long sordid history of opposing gun control. www.washingtonpost.com/...
If Biden is corrupt, so is Sanders. If Biden’s corruption will hurt him in the general, so will Sanders.
Perhaps we should back away from the politics of character assassination? But I don’t think we will. Let the bloodbath begin.
Edited: So the title reflects my feelings...
