Basically, the Trump campaign is tracking every cell phone that comes in to his rallies. If you’ve seen “The Great Hack” (And you should.) you’ll understand why this is so troubling.
I ran into this at Alternet and dug up the original article by Martin Longman at The Washington Monthly. I haven’t seen anything posted on DK about it.
“The Real Reason Trump Holds So Many Rallies Is Deeply Disturbing” is the title of the Alternet piece
I had no idea of what it was and I find it pretty...unsettling...as if there isn’t enough to be unsettled about.
Sorry, I’m not sure of the rules posting quotes or links to other pieces. Here’s a brief quote;
“Trump has been aggressively using this capability throughout his whole first term, which may help explain, in part, why he’s able to maintain such a high floor in his approval numbers. More importantly, he now has a big advantage over whoever winds up running against him in the general election.”

(OK, you gotta wonder just how accurate some of this data-mining is. My son....a lefty... just now walked in, looked at his mail, shook his head and said “Why the fuck is the NRA offering me a free backpack?”)
