Trump is at it again. He rolled out this ad last week, featuring Dr. Fauci seeming to praise the administrations effort fighting the covid-10. Dr. Fauci remained silent until asked by CNN about his appearance in the ad.
The Trump campaign released
the new ad last week after the President was discharged from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center following treatment for Covid-19…
"President Trump is recovering from the coronavirus, and so is America," the ad's narrator says. "Together we rose to meet the challenge, protecting our seniors, getting them life-saving drugs in record time, sparing no expense."
The ad then flashes to an interview with Fauci in which he says, "I can't imagine that anybody could be doing more."
Dr Fauci stated to CNN:
In my nearly five decades of public service, I have never publicly endorsed any political candidate. The comments attributed to me without my permission in the GOP campaign ad were taken out of context from a broad statement I made months ago about the efforts of federal public health officials...
The quote was apparently from an interview on a Fox program where he was asked if a good job was being done regarding the pandemic, and his answer was in praise of the federal civil servants, not the current occupant of the Oval Office.
Dr. Fauci tried to just ignore this. But when finally asked by the media, he did what he tends to do — tell the truth. He often tries to sugar coat it so his boss will let him alone so he can do his job. But this was so flagrant, there is no way to do so. He quite possibly had been holding in some anger that he decided to let out, and who can blame him.
This is a CNN story at the moment, but I think the rest of the real news outfits will get into this. I also think that the Biden campaign will be all over this. I wonder what if any retaliation there will be against Dr Fauci.
This story, I predict, will have legs.
