How would YOU like to have this beautiful, one-of-a-kind quilt for your very own? Even better, what if it had messages from voters and elected officials telling why they thought it was time to Ditch Mitch?
That’s right, folks, this is the famous Ditch Mitch Quilt – a combination of efforts of Sara Reed, Laura Jansen, and Bruce Maples:
- Sara cut all the squares and shipped them to Bruce.
- Bruce took them around Kentucky, including to the capitol in Frankfort, and got people to write their own messages on the squares (with some help from a friend in the capitol!).
- Then Laura took those squares and created the quilt you see here.
And guess what — YOU can have it for your very own … but the contest ends THIS COMING SUNDAY!
Some special features of this unique quilt
- Many of the squares have signatures and messages from people across Kentucky and even across the nation, including some of our elected officials.
- AND, if we can catch up with her while she flies herself (literally) across the state (she’s a pilot, remember), we’re going to get Amy McGrath to sign it as well!
- The quilt squares are made from scraps from other quilts, so there are many fun things portrayed in the quilt, including popcorn, peanuts, fried chicken wings, and … cats.
- The center of the quilt is a print of men’s watches and that is surrounded by a rusty orange colored fabric that is printed with the Preamble of the Constitution.
How to enter to win the Ditch Mitch Quilt

- Go to the Ditch Mitch Quilt page on ActBlue and make a donation of at least $10. All the funds raised will go to the McGrath campaign.
- Write an essay of at least 50 words stating why you think it’s time to Ditch Mitch, and send it to DitchMitchQuilt@gmail.com.
You can only enter once a day, but you can enter on as many days as you want.
Do it now while you are looking at that beautiful quilt! And let’s do all we can to Ditch Mitch!
