During a mostly maskless Michigan rally, malevolent blowhard Donald Trump once again attacked Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer over the state's pandemic restrictions, despite Whitmer recently being revealed as the primary target of a domestic terrorism plot after Trump's previous tweeted demands that his followers "LIBERATE" the state. This is because Trump is a malignant grotesquery of a man. He is someone who has repeatedly appeared to take gleeful pleasure in violence directed against his enemies, and one who has been indifferent to terrorism initiated by his supporters, whether it be a mail bomber targeting a long list of his declared enemies, a police-obsessed teen looking to "defend" America from protesters Donald Trump has condemned, or an organized far-right militia taking Trump's "liberate" rhetoric and attempting to make it happen.
Whitmer swiftly called out Trump's continued attacks, tweeting that it puts "lives in danger" and "needs to stop." House Speaker Nancy Pelosi condemned Trump's newest outburst as "irresponsible."
On the Republican Sunday show circuit, which has been whittled down at this point largely to "people who depend on Donald Trump as their main source of income" and "people who may or may not be agents of a foreign power," it was left to the ever-insipid Lara Trump, wife of Qusay, to defend her oozing father-in-law. Scarce are any government experts who might, say, credibly inform the public about the current status of a still-out-of-control national pandemic. Instead, we get Lara.
And Trump targeting Whitmer yet again with his rhetoric didn't mean anything, offered "senior campaign adviser" Lara. He was just "having fun."
She's right, of course. Teasing political enemies with rhetoric that may or may not result in terrorist acts is what passes for "fun" among Trump's base of deplorables, unrepentant racists, militia-adjacent crackpots, incels, misogynists ,and Confederate flag-waving paint-drinkers. It has certainly seemed that Donald's only source of "fun," through his entire life, is launching creep-laden attacks on whoever he has last designated as a target. It's that and physically assaulting women—those are his only two hobbies.
Well, three, if you count losing money hand over fist.
Lara Trump had other wisdom to share in her role as familial senior campaign adviser. She brightly defended Trump's non-response to the pandemic, which host Jake Tapper listened to with an expression roughly approximating someone seeing the "Aristocrats" joke acted out in front of him live, and insisted that she was unaware of challenger Joe Biden's battles with stuttering, assuring the audience that when she was mocking Biden she was only mocking Biden as an attack on his supposed "cognitive decline."
We've often mused here about how it can even be possible for a person to have zero redeeming qualities whatsoever. Donald has, literally, not even one. He has never shown a single trait that could be counted as non-malevolent. But it's more than that: The blowhard seems to have the ability to suck the positive traits out of anyone who gets within spitting distance, turning them into similarly compulsive and mean-spirited shells. Is it that anyone with a shred of decency immediately runs from him, thus ensuring that nobody but the already-toxic gathers around him? Is it a virus, or a mutated form of toxoplasmosis? A hair-based fungal infection that regularly releases a cloud of spores?
How does every single last person surrounding Trump, marrying into his family, staffing his offices, or shuffling around Mar-a-Lago in a Hotel California-like quest to bump into the man—how can they all be such dumpster fires?
What's the story, Lara? Were you born like this, or did you have to adapt into it? If the line isn’t at “encourages domestic terrorism against enemies,” I don’t suppose we’re ever going to find your line at all, are we?
