The huge difference between polls and results surfaced again in this election. It wasn’t so long ago that polls were pretty accurate and differences between polls and election results came down to vote count manipulation.
Acknowledging that things HAVE changed — with fewer land lines, phone calls being screened and more, I’m still astounded that people unquestioningly accept the presumption that the polls were all wrong.
Rove’s math showed that you could cheat by 3% and get away with it — no questions raised. It happened repeatedly during the Bush II admin. Only in 2006 when people were really pissed did the Democrats show some strength — when turnout was higher than expected. The Democrats took the House, started investigations and the financial crisis broke BEFORE Bush got out of office. The investigation into voter fraud in 2004 seems to have died with Michael Connell when his small plane crashed (a favorite method of resolving ‘problems’ in politics). Ohio was particularly suspicious in 2004. It was shown that the Diebold touchscreens were easily hacked — best done by altering programming BEFORE they were put into use. Complaints about votes changing and questionable totals were common — like NO votes for President on certain Indian Reservations in New Mexico.
We’ve been told that such issues have been addressed but that is not true. Apparently touch screen machines — which do not use paper ballots or produce receipts — are still in use in some states. Their use in Tennessee, North Carolina and Georgia has drawn some complaint.
You can program some machines to record different votes than were cast, program total tabulations to favor one party over another, preload machines…. all kinds of mischief along with simple loss of mailed in votes, addition of ballots and more. And please, the Democratic Party had its own history of manipulating votes in the last century. Numerous questions were raised about LBJ getting into Congress and votes for JFK from Chicago for the Presidency. My own family saw first hand how machine politics controlled Jersey City in the 1930’s. But it does seem that the Republican Party has been the primary culprit in vote fraud for the last 30 or 40 years.
While Trump has been ranting on and on about vote counting at the end of the process — the counting of legitimate ballots — has anyone bothered to look into the basic tabulation system and the votes counted at the start of the process?
Perhaps there’s some reason to say that the polls were more accurate than has been shown. I’d love to see in-depth ‘forensic analyses’ of votes in areas that broke Republican far beyond what polls expected.
I found the way that W dealt with his TANG service interesting. His people got rid of ANY evidence that showed the truth, then faked documents which accurately reported the truth. When these surfaced, they showed that the documents were fake — even though reporting the truth. Issue dead.
Distract people from the truth by pointing them in other directions.
People were fed up with. They turned out in record numbers and — it would appear — DID vote him out via the electoral college. But more people voted for Trump than the polls expected. And voters kept Republican Senators and Congressmen even when Trump was voted out?
Just saying that we should be taking a closer look at things……… Of late the Democratic Party has been far too ‘civil’ in accepting situations that smell. How different would this country — and the world — be if Democrats took a firm stand in 2000?
And its STILL far from settled now. The one thing working against Trump is his sheer incompetence. I expect many Republicans WANT him out — but can’t be seen as openly opposing him.
