I love Dr. Seuss. I bought most of the books, if not all, when my children were young. I think I still have a copy of “Green Eggs and Ham”. We quote from it sometimes because it just seems fitting to the circumstances.
But as we got closer and closer to the inevitable, another Dr. Seuss book kept coming to my mind. It’s “Marvin K. Mooney Will You Please Go Now”. The more I thought about the departure of DJT, the more this title stayed in my head. I started to pull out my copy but realized that my daughter had taken it with her when she moved out of the house.
So, I googled it. Google knows everything. And it knew about Marvin. I did not find the full text. However, Wikipedia gave me the beginning and ending lines which are in this time also fitting.
"The time has come! The time is now! JUST GO, GO, GO! I DON'T CARE HOW!".
In the pages that followed numerous suggestions were made as to how Marvin might go. Here are just a few: by foot, by cow, by skates, by skis, by bike, by balloon, by broomstick, by jet, stamp yourself and go by mail.
Perhaps the jet is Air Force One. Maybe he’d end up stuck some postal facility if he tried the mail. I’d also add golf cart, helicopter, D.C. cop car. But he is going. He can stomp his feet. He can run to the court. He can tweet and tweet and tweet. But he is going.
Because the American people are saying, "I said, 'GO'! And 'GO', I meant!"
And just like Marvin, "The time had come. So, Donald WENT!".
