Bill Maher has been asking each candidate, what would you do if, after you win the election, Trump refuses to leave?
Fortunately it does seem the military has had enough of Trump and they would act as the guarantor of last resort for constitutional law.
But what if Covid-19 has exploded across the country in November, and Trump says “for reasons of public health, we have to cancel the election”? How do we respond? At a minimum, turnout will be down even if he doesn’t try such a brazen move.
In my work I am frequently required to consider and address worst case scenarios. Time to start pondering this scenario, I am afraid.
