In the absence of a majority alliance, and in the absence of consensus-building, Bernie’s “Revolution” would work only if he were an autocrat.
I was a Bernie supporter in 2016. I was hoping and expecting that this time around we would see a better, more consensus-building candidate.
Bernie had millions of passionate supporters, he had the organization, and he had four years to prepare. Bernie had four years to build the necessary alliances and to launch a much-broader and far-stronger campaign.
Four years!

Instead, what did we see?
Bernie (version 2020) decisively proved to the American people that he is temperamentally unfit to be President.
If I sound disappointed and bitter, that’s because I am. Bernie Sanders’ 2020 Campaign didn’t have to be the tragedy that it became.

In the absence of a majority alliance, and in the absence of consensus-building, Bernie’s Revolution would work only if he were an autocrat.
And guess what?
The Democratic Party ain’t going there!

In the Senate, Elizabeth Warren is doing what Bernie Sanders should have been done during his Presidential Campaign: making alliances, building consensus, and making realistic compromises when needed – all the while fighting to make possible the practical implementation of fairer and more progressive policies.

After Bernie withdraws (hopefully in the next day or two) I sincerely hope that he returns to the Senate, and does his utmost to make wise contributions.
Bernie has vision, and millions of American voters passionately support his policy ideas. Let him use those considerable strengths to make alliances in the Senate, working with other Democratic and Independent senators to formulate and pass the great progressive legislation that America needs...
Progressive legislation that President Joe Biden can sign into law.
I wish Senator Bernie Sanders godspeed!
America needs you – please rise to the challenge.
