I have been watching the Covid-19 outbreak on the website worldometers.com They update USA covid-19 numbers on a regular basis. The total cases have been going up over 25% per day for the last week. I just checked and the total deaths in the USA is 1032.
Worldometers is taking their information from each States Health Departments. I have also been looking at the death rate percentage. At the moment I am typing this the total cases in the USA is 68,421 and with 1032 deaths that is a death rate of almost exactly 1.5 persons per 100 infected by Covid-19. Remember the death rate for the common flu is .5 persons per 100 infected. So far the death rate is three times the flu rate.
I live in a very rural area, my county is large ( over five times the size of Rhode Island) and only 125,000 population. We have one “official” covid-19 case. A good friend of mine is an EMT and just transported a second patient from our local rural hospital to Trauma 1 hospital because the patient just tested positive after three days in the rural hospital.
Stay safe.
