It is long past time for “civility”, and it is long past time to campaign against the “Big Lie” that the Republicans have been so successful with. The Republican political philosophy and campaigns, since Ronald Reagan, has been, “Government does not work, elect me and I will prove it”. And they do keep that promise. And people die:
89343 deaths due to Ronald Reagan and AIDS alone.
George H.W. Bush legacy from USNews:Health Care Legacy.
And now G.W. Bush, in addition to direct actions, his appointments to FEMA and the Republican vociferous denial of global warming. make it too hard for me to calculate the deaths. But deaths from superstorm Sandy, extreme flooding in Houston from hurricane Harvey (this of course abetted by local ignoring of climate change induced severe storms).
In the background we have the corporate (i.e. Republican owned) media showing almost no criticism of the president’s handling of the crisis, except when they add his response. So Republicans get no criticism for either the spread of the virus, nor the looming climatic disaster. The recent ProPublica article about the CDC (Sorry to the diarist who first brought this up, I can’t find your article this morning), and another about the FDC show that Trump’s appointees now are killing thousands. And of course Mississippi.
(I can’t do anymore this morning).
