Have you even looked at Joe’s platform???
I am a die hard Warren supporter – I LOVE that woman. She was my #1, #2, #3, #4 and #5 choice – and then I got to some of the other ones. But they are all gone, including Elizabeth, so now I have to look at two remaining ones. Both have been in politics for decades, both are wealthy, white, male, old, and flawed. I am not really thrilled with either one – but I will vote blue no matter who – because fascism and a burgeoning dictator is taking over America and this is our last shot (and no that is not hyperbole – have you read Madeline Albright’s Fascism?? – no – go get it right now and read it – but not at bed time because it’s a horror story).
So I have looked over at Biden’s policies and looked over at Bernie’s ideas. I say looked at Bernie’s ideas, because his website is very short on how he would actually accomplish things (at least when I tried last week) and very heavy in slogans and concepts. His stuff looks like the copied and pasted it from 2016. It’s part of the reason I supported Hillary – she had plans, and plans of plans, and backups for those plans- just like Warren — it’s a pattern for me — I know. Bernie has grand ideas – I need something a lot more concrete.
I also looked at Biden’s plans. He has plans - are they are as great as Warren’s? Nope – but they are plans. And they are LIBERAL plans and PROGRESSIVE plans. Heck reading through his stuff, I realized even if he is the candidate, this still ends up being the most progressive platform the Democratic Party has ever had! It might not be Medicare for all, but its health care for everyone. He has some good ideas. Here is the link to his plans (you have to dig on his website past all the donate stuff, which is why I linked it here https://joebiden.com/joes-vision/). He even talks about where the money is coming from.
So while my heart is heavy and I am tired after primal screaming into the void at my frustration about losing Warren, I am going to support Joe. He is far from a perfect candidate, but as a Warren supporter, I feel more welcomed to his campaign. As a life long democrat, I don’t feel spurned by Joe’s supporters and I am so sick of the name calling and fanaticism of some of Bernie’s supporters. They have really turned me off to him as a potential president. I know it’s not his fault, but I just don’t feel welcome there. I hope whoever is the nominee picks Warren as their VP – because they both need her!
