Good News! Kentuckians will be allowed to vote-by-mail in the June 23rd primary! Gov. Andy Beshear (D-KY) had previously issued an executive order to this effect only to have the state legislature (GOP controlled) pass a law restricting his power. Beshear vetoed the provision that said Sec. of State Michael Adams (R), who is in charge of the elections, would have to agree to any election procedures. The state legislature overrode Beshear’s veto and it looked bleak there for awhile KY has very strict absentee balloting rules and it looked like we were going to have to risk our lives (like WI voters) to exercise our franchise. My family was preparing to do just that. But today, Beshear and Adams came to an agreement allowing vote by mail for all KY voters for this primary. We still don’t know whether or not we will have to risk our lives come November, but THIS is good news. And these days, I will take good news where I can find it.
