Hello, writers. Many thanks to strawbale for stepping in last week with a Write On! diary on very short notice, and to mettle fatigue and her both for keeping on top of things.
Once again I have no room in my brain for writing at all. I have only just started to peer ahead into the darkness for a light at the end of the tunnel, well aware that when I finally do see one it may be the proverbial train. But I have started to promise myself that I will write again someday.
Rather, I’ve started to promise myself that I will tell a story again someday.
Writing and storytelling are two different skills. And it’s the storytelling part of writing that I really miss.
So what keeps me going now is that someday I’ll write characters I like, with quirks that make me laugh, and put those characters into situations that flummox and frustrate them, and have fun doing it.
How about you? What keeps you going, writing-wise?
Tonight’s challenge:
Write a scene set on a dark and stormy night in which the thing that keeps you going appears.
Write On! will be a regular Thursday feature (8 pm ET 5 pm PT) until it isn't.
