This unholy mess the country is in belongs to all of you.
Not us.
It doesn’t belong to our First Responders, Doctors, Nurses, and Scientists. It doesn’t belong to people wearing masks and staying home to try to protect others. It doesn’t belong to people having to work in unsafe conditions.
Our people are dying because of you. Our brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers, husbands and wives, children and grandbabies, our neighbors and communities are suffering and dying because of you. Our first responders, front line workers, nurses and doctors are dying — because of you.
And it didn’t have to be like this.
Your racism and sexism, your egos, avarice, lack of thought, and lust for power, have made it this bad.
Through the long weeks of this Covid19 winter and spring you have denied, lied, and obfuscated.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — A document created by the nation’s top disease investigators with step-by-step advice to local authorities on how and when to reopen restaurants and other public places during the still-raging outbreak has been shelved by the Trump administration.
The 17-page report by a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention team, titled “Guidance for Implementing the Opening Up America Again Framework,” was researched and written to help faith leaders, business owners, educators and state and local officials as they begin to reopen.
It was supposed to be published last Friday, but agency scientists were told the guidance “would never see the light of day,” according to a CDC official. The official was not authorized to talk to reporters and spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity…...
You demanded respect and loyalty you have not earned, while revealing an utter incompetency and contempt for American lives.
Excess U.S. deaths hit estimated 37,100 in pandemic’s early days, far more than previously known
You’re not pro life anything.
You’re merely “pro — you.”
And now instead of doing what is right, what should have been done months ago, you want us to pretend all your incompetence, criminality and lies never happened.
You want us to be ok with our neighbors dying, with our loved ones dying, with our hospitals being over run and our health care system collapsing. You want us to ignore all the possible long term consequences of having the virus and how much is unknown.
We need a Marshall plan for this country. That is what should have been the response to Covid-19 from the very beginning. It is what smart and caring countries have done. But you couldn’t be bothered.
America Has No Plan for the Worst-Case Scenario on Covid-19
Rather than listening to scientists, the medical community, and the majority of the American people, you have chosen selling a deadly and false narrative.
My son and I were talking the other day. He’s a Critical Care ICU RN — a nurse proud of his hospital, its work keeping employees safe, his colleagues and their enormous efforts to heal and save lives.
I am enormously proud of him. He has overcome cancer and myriad other health issues. He has far more courage than you, far more compassion, ethics, and honesty. He doesn’t hide from reality.
You don’t begin to measure up.
Because people of this state practiced social distancing, because people gave a damn about others besides themselves, we’ve managed to flatten the curve.
We’ve managed to keep our hospitals from being overrun.
But that doesn’t mean the virus is gone. That doesn’t mean it has stopped being highly infectious. That doesn’t mean people aren’t getting sick. That doesn’t mean people aren’t dying.
My son is worried about the “stupid.” About the state opening up too quickly, people getting impatient and not taking precautions. Like so many others on the front line, he’s worried about a second wave of the virus hitting.
I’m worried about him catching the virus and dying.
You don’t give a damn. His death would be just one of the acceptable many. Any of my children and grandchildren dying, my sisters and brothers dying, my friends and neighbors dying, is acceptable to you. Our hospitals being over run is not even a blip on your self involved radar screens.
You stare into the cameras — safe with all your available testing, access to medical care, and financial resources (our tax dollars) — and dare tell the rest of us that our suffering and deaths, the suffering and deaths of those we love, is necessary and acceptable.
You first.
Show us the courage of your convictions — You and yours first.
I absolutely insist.
After you.
