As we know, the Lincoln Project has been turning out hard-hitting ads, and recent coverage of its “Mourning In America” piece shows just how effective these ads are at getting to the mainstream. Well, the Biden campaign has joined the fray by releasing “Reality”, which juxtaposes the president’s own words with those of Abraham Lincoln and the iconic Lincoln Memorial. There is no commentary aside from the final frame, which reads—
Real presidents lead. Reality TV presidents don’t.
Some argue the Biden campaign should focus on Biden rather than using Trump’s own image and words. I would agree with this in “normal times”. But these past four years have been anything but “normal”, and the Administration’s response to the global pandemic has been the tipping point.

UPDATE: Thanks to a commenter down thread who noted that Facebook did not remove the Lincoln Project ad, “Mourning in America”, but rather labeled it as “partially false”. Trump’s response to “Mourning in America” was also covered by several media outlets. If ads like “Mourning in America” are viewed as “controversial” so be it. They will get more free coverage and views, which is good for Biden’s campaign.
