Democrat Abby Broyles, who is challenging 4-term, 85 year old Jim Inhofe for re-election, is a notable, well-qualified US Senate candidate for Democrats in Oklahoma.
After working at KFOR [NBC Oklahoma City] as a reporter and anchor covering the state capitol, she went to law school in hopes of advocating for Oklahomans in a way she hadn’t before.
“He [Inhofe] went down to Midwest City and was touring the housing on base there where we had interviewed families that were dealing with mold and asbestos,” she said. “Many of them had moved to RVs across the street from their homes because the living conditions were so terrible.”
Inhofe hosted a press conference in which he said he has “never seen nicer housing” and that he probably would’ve stayed in the Army if they had had that kind of housing when he was serving.
“I just sat there watching the story, thinking, ‘This man is so out of touch with Oklahomans,’” Broyles said. “To see him be disrespectful to those families, that kind of stirred something up in me that I thought, ‘This is the time. He needs a serious challenger.’”
Broyles is that serious challenger.

At 30, she’s pretty much the perfect contrast to a 4-term incumbent octogenarian science-denier. Her fundraising has her on TV across Oklahoma.

Broyles’ fundraising is almost even with the incumbent for the quarter.
Republican incumbent Jim Inhofe and Democrat Abby Broyles, considered the leading candidates in their respective Senate primaries on June 30, reported respectable fundraising totals for the period April 1- June 10 last week.
Inhofe reported receipts of just under $325,000 on his pre-primary report to the Federal Election Commission.
Broyles listed almost $270,000.
Inhofe and Broyles each face three primary opponents on June 30, none of whom has raised more than a few thousand dollars.

Broyles is hitting Inhofe — Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee — hard for remaining silent over Russia’s bounties on US troops in Afghanistan.
Broyles take on Trump’s failed Tulsa rally:
And on failed leadership on the economy
And COVID-19
Is a Senate race in Oklahoma a long shot? Perhaps. But in 2020, with a pandemic, an economic crisis, people in the streets protesting injustice, and a historically unpopular and unqualified President, has there ever been a better time for a 50 State Strategy?
