Living in a pretty red state with no real “local” news that holds elected officials to any journalistic standard, I dashed off a Letter to the Editor this morning. First to the South Bend Tribune (the paper for the north central part of Indiana (Jackie Walorski district). Then a similar letter to the Indianapolis Star. Maybe the Indiana media outlets will start reporting on the Issue because as of noon today (Jun 29) — not a word on their on-line editions.
Here’s the letter to the South Bend Tribune:
Multiple news releases are reporting the Putin’s Soviet Union is paying Taliban terrorists a bounty for dead American and United Kingdom soldiers in Afghanistan. Since 2001, American blood continues to be spilled in Iraq and Afghanistan while protecting the citizens of those two countries and fighting against global terrorist. Over 7,000 American soldiers have lost their lives fighting in this 19-year war.
The President, Donald Trump, denies being briefed on the Russian payments for dead Americans which involves his good buddy, Vladimir Putin. Of course, as of June 01, 2020, Trump has made 19,127 lies and misleading statements to the citizens of this country but he thinks the citizens should believe him this time.
Every Republican in Congress, especially Jackie Walorski in the House and Todd Young and Mike Braun in the Senate (who voted to acquit Trump of criminal wrongdoing) now has the blood of American soldiers on their hands. It will be interesting to hear how these elected representatives of Indiana address this treasonous behavior by President Trump. It will also be interesting to see how the good, Christian Hoosiers who support American troops will react when they vote; or will they also turn their back on the 7,000+ American deaths?
