It’s still six weeks until the first of the Presidential debates. There have already been diaries suggesting that Vice President Biden should refuse to debate unless the tax returns have been released and also that there be a mechanism to fact-check the inevitable lies that will be spewed out. I love that idea. As a classroom teacher at the college level, I have experienced an ongoing trend by which the young students of today will fact-check my lectures on the internet while I am still talking. It actually adds to the class IMHO.
How would you debate a known liar? ( I think it’s 18,000 and counting….)
Since the announcement of Senator Harris as the running mate (which made me cry tears of joy), it is inevitable that Biden will will need to respond to one specific thing. My drinking days are over but for those of you who play drinking games, add this to your card.
I’ll get straight to the point. #IMPOTUS has a long, well-documented habit of making public put-downs against women. In the GOP primary he insulted the wife of Ted Cruz; he called Carly Fiorina “horse-faced” on stage. He insulted latinx women knowing that Jeb Bush’s spouse was latinx. Significantly, none of his opponents stepped up to the plate to defend those women on stage.
I think it’s a fair bet to expect that he will repeat the slur against Senator Harris that he already made — calling her “nasty” — or perhaps even worse.
The question is: What is the best response for Vice President Biden when that occurs as it inevitably will?
