I’ve referenced these links in several comments and multiple readers have suggested posting this info in a diary. I know I got one of the links from bear83.
As you can see, there is a wide disparity in how states handle mail-in ballots. NC is likely a state to watch on election night because that state can start counting mail-in votes two weeks prior to 3 Nov. Contrast that with MI, PA, and WI. Those three states can’t touch their mail-in ballots, even for signature check, until election day.
