Trying to collect low tech countermeasures to use during protests. Some precepts: Harm reduction is a goal. No supersoakers full of kerosene, etc. Intent is defensive, the “strongest” response should be return-to-sender on what the other side uses.
We have already seen creative use of leaf blowers, or traffic cones and water to mitigate irritant cans. Same with umbrellas.
Some that occur to me include recruiting jai-alai and lacrosse players, both can catch and return irritant and flash-bangs mid-flight. Given the speed of the ball in jai-alai, I wouldn’t put it past a player to be able to catch rubber bullets in flight, and return them with higher muzzle velocity, and equal accuracy. (at least in good light)
One possible solution to tasers is clothing made of real old-style gold lame. Yea its heavy, but it will be fabulous, and besides preventing the prongs from reaching skin, the stuff has better conductivity than the wires back to the gun, it would short the stuff right out. (would also work on cattle prods, and those electrified shields.)
Another area denial item for shock weapons, run metalized mylar (aka space blankets) thru a paper shredder, and disperse it with leaf blowers. Space blankets are like $0.20 each when bought in bulk.
Think back to the late night conversations with friends in low places… Or that uncle’s stories about the 60’s anti-war protests.
