Patriotism means to stand by the country. It does not mean to stand by the president.
There is no question that the President tried to overthrow our form of democracy. On every form of communication media he told the American media he was working to that end. A coup d'état against the constitution and our way of life. It is well documented.
Representatives Thomas Massie of Kentucky, Tom McClintock of California, Nancy Mace of South Carolina, Chip Roy of Texas, Kelly Armstrong of North Dakota, and Mike Gallagher of Wisconsin and Ken Buck of Colorado have sent a letter to Nancy Pelosi to “"hasten the process" of healing the divisions” not to impeach the President. Their request only serves the Republican party as it tries to stay solvent and does nothing to stop a future president or group from trying their own insurrection.
The actions of January 6th where in fact suborned by the Republican Party and it’s propaganda arm, Fox News. Why should they wish to bury this insurrection with a halfhearted plea of healing? If anything, the republicans need to be full onboard with impeachment in hopes that they can heal the nation and remove any signs of their complicity in these events.
What has happen to our democracy isn’t just a riot of a few angered supporters of the president, but a outright assault of over two hundred and forty plus years of American democracy. And while it hasn’t been perfect it has always respected the election of its leaders.
The healing of America needs to be the rule of law. Those responsible for this sedition need to be held accountable.
That accountability starts with the second impeachment of the president and his removal from office and being banned from politics for life. It includes the removal from office of those elected politicians who suborned these actions and the imprisonment of those who acted on the call for insurrection.
Only then, when America has shown her citizens that these act ill not stand can the healing start.
