We made it! Together, we have made it through a four year hell scape to the beginning of better days. Tired this morning but above all - utterly thankful.
Thinking of how today and all the days that follow are possible because we never gave up. They're possible because no matter how exhausted or overwhelmed we were, we kept on striving, kept on lifting one another up so we could go on.
It's all such a profound gift.
You made this happen. Together with millions of others across the country we persevered and made today happen.
We have more work to do. Important elections are coming up and we must not, can not, stop now. It's crucial that we keep fighting. All our lives depend upon it. Our children's and grand children's futures depend upon it. This beautiful blue world depends upon it. And the forces that enabled Trump’s rise to destruction are still with us. They will not disappear. They never have.
We have work to do.
But today - this Inauguration Day - is for giving thanks, for breathing a profound sigh of relief, and celebrating the return of intelligence, competence, honesty, caring, thoughtfulness and decency to the White House and Federal Government.
As we watch the swearing in of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris as President and Vice President of these United States, we are celebrating a " government of the people, by the people, and for the people.”
Today as we watch Jon Ossoff and Reverend Warnock being sworn in as Senators, never forget that it was the hard work of the American people who made it possible. Black Americans made it happen. All of you supporting the work of Stacey Abrams and the hard work of black organizers made taking back the Senate possible.
The Presidency, the Senate, the House, State races, Local races — none would happen without you — the American people.
A new day and time is rising — a day and time made possible by never giving up, by lifting up the best that we can be.
I just wanted to say — From my heart to yours, much love and deepest thanks.
Just saw this and once I stopped crying, had to add it to the post. This is seismic. We can’t see it all right now. But history will. And you made it happen.
