Morning Open Thread is a daily, copyrighted post from a host of editors, and guest writers. We support our community, invite and share ideas, and encourage thoughtful, respectful, and even amusing dialogue in an open forum. I’ve come to realize (it did take time, though..) that this post is one where you come for the music and stay for the conversation—so feel free to drop a note. But of course…. This diarist always gets to sleep in if he so desires and can show up long after the post is published. So you know, I sleep in late….. Sometimes.

Well Good Morning, Neighbors!
Yesterday was a day worth waiting for, wasn’t it? I am so stoked that he, along with his criminal cabal family are gone for good: More on that in the ending video, but first a little tale from your humble narrator…..
Well, I had thought I was going to get my Covid Vaccination Tuesday, but the Health Department was a zoo, from what I learned. Ms. LC called me from road and said don’t bother go there, as her friend texted her that they had run out of vaccine by 1500 hours (that’s 3:00 PM, to some of you).
Now what to do.
I drove there anyways, and found out that they would have the clinic set-up for today opening at 0700, and for Thursday as well. I went home, bummed out, but determined to get my vaccine shot, and maybe tomorrow I thought… Seeing as the story went that people were lining up outside the clinic at 0400 the morning before they opened, I thought that I too was going to have to try that strategy as well, and see what came of it.
So…
I did my typical (non scheduled) waking up at 0400 today, and instead of trying to go back to sleep, I dressed, went downstairs and “nuked” some leftover coffee, ate cold piece of Pesto Pizza from the dinner the day before for breakfast (yes, it was good — A leftover habit from college days), and then got into the car, and drove down to the Health Department. Well there was line already, but I was number 24 in line (arrived there at at 0500). The line of cars that pulled in behind me stretched as far as I could see in my rearview mirror. I sat in the car with the heater on, listening to MSNBC on Sirius XM, dozed off every now and then (yes, with the engine turned off, of course), and waited. Finally at 0700, they began to let the cars in to park, and around 0900 I was checked into receive my vaccination. All went smooth, and orderly as the folks at the county Health Department had a ton of great volunteers working to assist us all, and I was out of there by 0930.
It seems that they learned from the incredible crush and chaos of people the day before how to get this gig working right, and made the appropriate changes within 24 hours to make this operation run right including more vaccine. They did a great job, and it ran like a well oiled machine today.
Kudos to them: I am going to submit a letter to the editor of the local newspaper for the editorial page to compliment our county Health Department, and all the kind and professional folks that worked there for this program, once I wake up enough to write a coherent letter!
Next appointment is 2/17.
No side effects to report, not even a sore arm which I typically get from an intramuscular vaccination. The male nurse who administered the shot was a (capital “P”) Pro, and I didn’t feel a thing, not that getting a shot bothers me; they don’t. I have had so many shots in the course of my life from having traveled to some “funky places”….
Let’s just say that they are “routine” for me.
(Hence that is why you didn’t see my little pretty face yesterday posting nuggets of goat “stuff” on the MOT diary thread, as I came home, and hit the sack and fell asleep for 5 hours straight!
Here’s some fun stuff Ms. LC passed along to me: Aren’t these guys cool? I think so….
Now for that Trump exit celebration dance thingie I promised: Good riddance, to bad trash (WARNING: MIGHT CONTAIN LANGUAGE CONTENT AND REFERENCE(S) NOT SUITABLE FOR SOME):
Be safe out there.
