I did a World Series diary in 2018 after my Red Sox won when I saw nobody else had posted a diary. And then I posted another one the next year after the WS and quipped that this might be my unpaid job with the DK. So here is my fifth post WS diary.
I’m so pissed right now. The guy in VA that hates Native American won, and the team whose fans hate CRT has won the WS. Oops, I’ve had too many drinks. The VA guy hates CRT, and the team that won the WS hates Native Americans. (At least that’s what the Tomahawk chop leads me to believe. )
The World Series doesn’t amount to a hill of beans against what is happening in VA. Fuck repubs, and fuck their opposition to CRT.
My Red Sox entered this season in what was seen as a rebuilding year. We had a general manger, excuse me, director of baseball operations, who who traded away all our prospects for one big season which we indeed had in 2018. He traded tomorrow for today, to steal a phrase from Kris Krstofferson and got us a WS win. I was all for the Chis Sale deal, but not so much for so many of the deals that Dombroswki made, He cleaned our farm system and we paid for it. Anyway, after winning the WS in 2018 we crashed and burned, and he was fired the next year. Good riddance. I’m a long term guy
Anyway, this was a rebuilding year, but in a baseball crazy market that is New England, you can’t admit it. So, the organization, with their new general manager, picked up a few useful pieces that would make our team a bit more respectable. The smart money said we’d be slightly north of 500. But in the whole first half, we were at the top of the AL East. I knew in my heart that we were playing way over our head and with this team’s weaknesses; I suspected we’d take a fall. But I never realized how hard of a fall we’d do, just being a 500 team in the second half. But we knocked the evil Yankees out in the wild card game and that made my season. I knew that Tampa Bay was going to clean our clock, except that it worked the other way around. And I knew Houston would wipe us out, but it looked the other way around, until someone on the Houston side told their pitchers to throw freaken strikes instead of playing around with the corners.
OK, so it appears that the Tomahawk Chop and anti CRT won for tonight. What a horrific night.
So it’s all open thread at this point. Hit me with your best shot.
