This is a short post but fairly important to those who live along any coast. Where I live in the UK, winter storms and flooding have caused visible damage, but they always have. More importantly, sewage dumps have become common and problematic. The progressives among us blame it on lax Tory regulation, privatisation, and a lack of investment to update Victorian infrastructure. All of these contribute, but the physical reality of rising groundwater, increasing storm runoff and a culture that tends to blame the obvious doesn’t help.
I guess the bullet point here is that, if you live on low lying ground, particularly in coastal locations where saltwater incursion is a problem, you might think about selling your sea-view property and move to higher ground because coastal erosion is a problem, but the viability of your underground electrical cables and gas lines could be important going forward as well.
